The Comprehensive Strength

In 2005 the GDP of Zhejiang province was 1336.5 billion RMB, with an
increase of 12.4% over the previous year calculated at comparable prices.
As one of the most vibrant and economically developed provinces, Zhejiang
ranked the fourth on the economic volume in China. The added value from
the primary industry was 87.3 billion RMB, an increase of 1.6%; the added
value from the secondary industry was 714.7 billion RMB, an increase of
12.3%; the added value from the tertiary industry was 534.5 billion RMB,
an increase of 14.9%, thus the structure changing from 7.0/53.6/39.4 of
the previous year to 6.5/53.5/40 respectively. The per capita GDP of the
province was 27552 RMB, with an increase of 10.8% over the previous year.

Agriculture

In 2005 the structural adjustment of agriculture in the whole province
continued, and the agricultural production developed stably. The
proportion between grain crops and cash crops changed from 52.4:47.6 to
53.2:46.8. The total grain output was 8.147 million tons, with a decrease
of 2.4 % than the previous year. The total aquatic product output was
4.838 million tons, with a decrease of 2.0 %. The output of meat, eggs
and milk continued increasing.

Industry

In 2005 the industry in the whole province continued growing rapidly
under the circumstances of high growth. The industrial added value
reached 634.3 billion RMB the whole year, with an increase of 12.9 %,
among which the added value in the large-scale industries amounted to
490.5 billion RMB, with an increase of 18.1%.

The light textile is one of the mainstay industries in Zhejiang province,
and its output and the capacity to earn foreign exchange through exports
rank the first in China. The markets specializing in textiles involve all
fields of textiles and have strong radiation ability and far-reaching
influences. Zhejiang province has become the textile logistic center in
China. The Light Textile City of China and the Cocoon and Silk Market of
China are specialized markets, which are very influential in China.

The machinery industry is the number one industry in the whole province.
With the construction of advanced manufacturing industrial basis as the
center, its production value, sales income and tax payment rank the third
in the machinery industries in China. The air separation equipment, the
special industry steam turbines, the electric dust catchers, pneumatic
ash devices etc are up to international advanced level and in leading
position in China due to their technological superiority.

Zhejiang Province enjoys a complete category of products in building
material industry. The industry of important raw materials, such as the
traditional building materials and products, nonmetal minerals and its
deep processing and inorganic nonmetals, as well as product industries
develop stably. New materials are being developed rapidly.

As to the chemical industry, Zhejiang province has the largest base of
international crude oil processing and product oil export, and fluorine
chemical industry production base in China. The productivity and output
of the glyphosate insecticides and dyes rank the first in Asia. Its
production rate of the fine chemical industry is the best in China. Thus
a distinctive modern industry system has been fundamentally formed with a
variety of categories and complete industries.

As to the electronic industry, information industry in Zhejiang Province
positively implemented the construction of ��the big information province
strategy, the stress on software development, the integrated circuit
industry and the promotion of digital Zhejiang�� and ��the information
industry base around Hangzhou-Bay��.

As to the medicine industry, Zhejiang Province has fairly strong
capabilities for scientific research and technological development of
medicine and production, as well as relatively perfect medicine
circulating system. The main economic indexes, such as the total medicine
production value, the export delivery value, and profits, remain the
leading position in China.

The Tertiary Industry

The investment in real estate continued growing rapidly. The investment
in the real estate development was 145.45 billion RMB the whole year,
with an increase of 12.3% over the previous year.

The domestic trade and the market sales of the consumption goods
increased stably. The total retail sales of social consumption goods
reached 463.2 billion RMB the whole year, with an increase of 14.2% over
the previous year, and of 13.2% if the price factor was taken into
consideration. Among them, the retail sales of the urban consumption
goods amounted to 304.7 billion RMB with an increase of 15.2%. The retail
sales of wholesale and retail trade reached 402.1 billion RMB, with an
increase of 14.1%. The retail sales of the catering trade was 53.32
billion RMB, with an increase of 17.8%. The retail sales of other trades
reached 7.77 billion RMB, with an increase of 0.1%. In the sales of the
wholesale and retail trade above the quota, the retail sales of the car
and the communication equipment increased by 9.7% and 9.1%.

The tourism received 127.58 million person-times of domestic tourists,
with an increase of 20.4% over the previous year. The income from
domestic tourism was 124.0 billion RMB, with an increase of 22.4%. There
were 3.48 million person-times of tourists from outside China, with an
increase of 25.8%, among which 2.329 million was from other countries,
with an increase of 31.1%, and 1.151 million was from Hong Kong, Macao
and Taiwan, with an increase of 16.2%. The foreign exchange income from
international tour was US$ 1.72 billion, with an increase of 32.0%. The
total income from both domestic and international tourism was 137.88
billion RMB the whole year, with an increase of 23.0%.
